Friction Stir Welding

Friction welding is a kind of method that uses the heat generated by the movement of the end face of the workpiece and the heat generated by the friction between each other, so that the end of the workpiece can reach the thermoplastic state, and then the die is rapidly forged. Friction welding can be easily connected to the same or different materials, including metal, metal matrix composites, ceramics and plastics. Friction welding method has been used in the manufacturing industry for more than 40 years, because of its high productivity, good quality for a wide range of engineering applications, but the welding is the main target of rotary parts, although there are other forms of friction welding technology, to overcome the work piece geometry to limit or increase productivity, such as phase friction welding and radial friction welding, linear friction welding, but little practical application. Recently, there has been friction surfacing on the workpiece to form a special performance of the surface layer.
